Sports Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

Sports rehabilitation at Sento in Amsterdam focuses on (sports) physiotherapy for anyone looking to engage in sports, amateur athletes, and professionals. Sports are fun and healthy for people of all ages, but sometimes they can lead to injuries. During sports activities, complaints may arise that may prevent you from fully participating in your hobby or profession.

Looking for Sports Physiotherapy in Amsterdam? Make an appointment with our (sports) physiotherapist!

Common sports injuries:

  • Knee injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament injury, anterior cruciate ligament surgery, meniscus injury, patellofemoral complaints, or Osgood-Schlatter disease
  • Ankle sprain
  • Achilles tendon tendinopathy or rupture
  • Calf strain
  • Hamstring injury
  • Groin strain
  • Shin splints
  • Tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow
  • Broken collarbone
  • Shoulder injury such as dislocation, tendon tear, or overuse
  • Fractures of the forearm/wrist/hand

Often, physiotherapy is highly recommended before and after surgery if you want to return to your previous level of sports or if you want to resume your daily activities as quickly as possible. This includes surgeries such as meniscus repair, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, shoulder surgery, or surgery after a fracture (bone break).

How does the sports physiotherapist work?

During the initial appointment, a medical history will be taken to understand how your complaint originated. This is followed by a physical examination, assessing the functioning of your muscles and joints. Finally, a personalized treatment plan will be developed so you know what to expect. You’ll gain insight into the complaint and learn how to move optimally again. During the sports rehabilitation process, efforts will be made to improve muscle strength, coordination, endurance, flexibility, mobility, and analyze and train sports-specific actions. This will help you return to sports without complaints and prevent recurrence of the injury.
